Quality Control in WELLD Tower Crane Production

Tower Crane Manufacturing Quality Control
WELLD implements a comprehensive quality management system that complies with ISO 9001 standards.
Incoming Material Inspection
Incoming steel and critical materials are checked against technical requirements.
Fabrication, Welding & NDT
Components are inspected during cutting, machining, fabrication and welding to verify dimensions, geometry and workmanship.
Surface Treatment & Assembly Inspection
Structural components are checked during surface preparation, coating and assembly.
Functional Testing & Final Inspection
A final pre-delivery inspection is completed before the crane is approved for shipment.
1. Incoming Material Inspection
Quality control begins with the inspection of incoming steel and other critical materials used in tower crane production. Before materials are released for manufacturing, WELLD reviews the relevant material certificates and verifies that the supplied materials meet the specified technical requirements.

The inspection process may include verification of steel grade, chemical composition and key mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength and elongation. Material identification and documentation are also checked to support traceability throughout the production process.
Ultrasonic testing of tower cranes
2. Fabrication, Welding & NDT
Throughout cutting, machining, fabrication and welding, structural components are inspected to verify dimensional accuracy, geometry and workmanship. Components are checked against technical drawings and specified tolerances before they proceed to subsequent production stages.

Where required by the applicable inspection procedure, critical welds are also subjected to non-destructive testing. Methods such as ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle inspection can be used to identify internal or surface defects that may not be detected by visual inspection alone.
3. Welding Inspection & Non-Destructive Testing
After structural fabrication and welding inspection, steel components proceed to surface preparation and protective coating. Proper surface treatment is important for coating adhesion and helps protect structural components against corrosion during transportation, storage and operation.
Mechanical, electrical and safety-related systems checks
4. Functional Testing & Final Inspection
Before delivery, the crane's mechanical, electrical and safety-related systems are checked to verify correct operation. Depending on the crane configuration, functional inspections may include the hoisting, slewing and trolleying mechanisms, electrical control systems, limit switches and other safety devices installed on the equipment.

The purpose of functional testing is to confirm that the main operating systems respond correctly and that the assembled equipment meets the applicable production and technical requirements.

A final pre-delivery inspection is then carried out to review the relevant structural components, mechanisms, electrical systems and safety-related equipment. Any identified non-conformities are addressed before the crane is approved for shipment.
The final inspection provides an additional verification stage before the equipment leaves the WELLD manufacturing facility.
